Was this the gent in the Challenger who was presented with horrible turbulence on landing approach and elected to divert and do an outlanding? If so I saw the post on Avcom.
Well done, better safe than sorry. Rotors off trees and buildings can be NASTY!!!

Did you damage anything? I am curious to the "survivability" of a Challie landing off field

Thanks guys. I have remained silent as my incident report still is to be logged with the relevent authority. When this is done I will give you all a detailed account of what happened. At this point I will say severe turbulance and wind shear. Chose to land elsewhere. Will chat about it once I have completed my report please.

This picture typical of conditions at Morningstar - also see my log of 20100120 on
http://www.zu-dve.com
When landing there with ZU-DVE I sometimes have to convince myself on finals that all will be well once I am below those Port Jacksons.
Now that the field to the side of the runway is smooth it makes landing a trike so much easier. To be honest 8 out of 10 of the landings of us flexwings at Morningstar should be described as "Aircraft down in morning star?"
