Hi all,

I know there are a couple of guys here nearing completion of their projects, so maybe this will help.

Following a post on Avcom, it seems there is a place somewhere in the freestate selling Halon extinguishers at a fraction of the price of the aviation shops around here.

I am still waiting for a call back with pricing and delivery costs, but is there anyone else who would like to order with me to share delivery costs? I am based in Pretoria, but can drop them off in Krugersdorp or Midrand.

Anybody know what size I should order? I think most aircraft have a 1kg extinguisher? All that the law says is that it should be sufficient for any fire likely to be encountered in the cockpit...

Hi Justin,

Just been reading that Avcom post, if I'm reading it correctly they are selling 1 kg Halon extinguishers for R240-250 each . If thats so count me in for 2. I need one for my Zodiac and one for the new Jabiru.

OK - Not sure of the exact price, until I get the shipping costs. Just need a ballpark idea of how many, and I will post the final price.

I will take 5 and if you can get the guy to drop them airport (assuming they have 1 in that part of the States) I will collect mahala and deliver to Rand. Obviously if they can be speed serviced for the R55 a pop 1kg fee then that more cost effective option.....

I am smack bang in the middle of the free state in Bloem. I would also like one and if I can be of any help locating the ilusive agent please let me know.
My vehicles cover the whole of the free state,northern cape and Lesotho so collection wont be a problem.

Can someone give us the contact details of the supplier. When I last priced at Placo and Festfire, I was quoted around R600 for a 1kg BFC Halon.

Finally got hold of the gent again. Apparently Chris took the last of the Halon (well, he does have 2kg left, but that is not even worth the delivery charges). He will give me a call when he gets more halon in (hopefully within a few weeks).

Costs are R250 ex VAT for 1kg. R280 ex VAT including a vehicle mount.
