Hi guys
I have this piece of open space at the south end of our caravanpark, busy clearing it. Good for runway of +- 220 meters. Will it work for microlights? If yes, how legal will it be? 13 km from George airport, 2.8 km from Victoria bay, 1.6 km from Gardenroute Mall. Have a look on Google Earth 33 59 40.31S, 22 31 03.84E to 33 59 44.63S, 22 31 10.50E

Thanks Demon
Runway will be 7 to 10 meters higher than surrounding properties. Flat with no obstructions from the west, electric wires from the east 5 meters higher than runway, it is possible to lower that to runway level.

Bernard has one of 238mtrs.in the Transkie. He built it for his Bush Baby. No problem. Savannah, foxbats, and trikes have landed there. It is about 1300ft above sea level.
Cheers, Vernon.

220m is fine for trikes as long as you dont have any high obstacles on the ends of the runway. We land at the Umbila RC flyers often and that runway is just under 200m. Never had problems there with take-off or landing, with or without wind.

The runway of our local microlight school is just 320 m long which is no problem at all and far more than needed. For this reason I think that 250 m should be absolutely fine for somebody who is not a absolute beginner, doing his first starts and landings.
Cheers,
Oliver

Doreen wouldn't advertise it too much as a runway or you may have DEAT all over you for not doing an EIA.
Now the graded road you have made for speed testing your new Mercededs benz ......

I heard somwhere - totally unconfirmed and have not been in any way able to confirm it - that if the runway is under 600m even deat will leave you alone. I am hoping that is true but almost can't think so.
