Watching Suesings fantastic video again, inspires me to share one of the greatest moments of my live with you.
September 2013 I had the opportunity to do my seaplane rating in Telkeetna (Alaska)
Due to the harsh weather, it was very difficult to do all the necessary training and after I was prepared for the test, the date of the checkride had to be rescheduled twice due to poor visibility (The examiner had to fly in as well).
In between the weather cleared up for a couple of hours and we took the opportunity to take a Piper PA 22 taildragger equipped with big bush tires out to do some real Alaskan bush flying.
Due to the fantastic taildragger training I received in SA (KFA´s Komati Flight Acadamy) the owner of the plane (Don Lee) did let me do all the flying by myself (after seriously checking me out before, landing on sandbanks in the rivers and very odd hillbilly places), just guiding the way and taking control of the mixture management. (high altitude flying)
The video is a compressed cut of 2,5 hours flying in one of the most fantastic landscapes of he world.
