Hi Paul / Mervin. Kan julle dalk vir ons 'n "printable" kaart opstel van Saterdag se Rand roete en hier aanheg. Sommer ook al die frikwensies en naderings prosedures. Ek dink ook dit sal 'n goeie idee wees as Mervin vir ons, voor ons vlieg, 'n kort "briefing" kan gee van wie praat en wie nie. Almal kan nie met die ATC praat as ons 'n groot groep is nie. Dit is seker ook belangrik om te noem dat daar landings fooie betrokke sal wees. Kom ons hoop die weer speel saam.

Hi Dawid,

To be confirmed by Mervyn on the day.

FABA to FASI then on to just north of Ergo Slimes dam (stay south of the railway line). Then 285 deg to Natal Spruit, that is the marsh between Voslorus & Katlehong. Then 335 deg to the intersection of the R59 (Vereeniging rd, double HW) and R554 (Swartkoppies Rd, double Rd). This point is just to the west of the Alrode Multipark industrial area. Keep to the south side of the Alrode industrial area. Then 47 deg on to Rand. Only one ATC caller in the group (Mervyn?).

Dit lyk na n lekker vlug wat julle gaan doen. Wens ek kon saam vlieg. Ek is sommer nou weer van voor af demoer in dat hulle my batery en headsets gesteel het.

Hi Guys,

I am planning a little fly out to The Rose Airfield next Sat Morning for a coffee.
The Rose is situated at S 25 47'45.93" E 28 34'38.75". Just East of MEV along the N4, Roughly 35/17 dirt/grass and 550m long.

Come join in for a flight there via either BHS Dam or the Cullinan Hole, we'll stop there for a coffee with Charl Jooste ....he has kindly volunteered to have the kettle on for us.

Let's maybe take a few snacks in the saddle bags and we can have a lekker leg stretch before heading back to FABA?

The reason for the WhatsApp group was that many of the pilots do not visit web sites, like microlighters, twitter and Facebook, on a regular basis. With WhatsApp they get info real time and wherever they are with their cell phone and within internet coverage. Many pilots who did not fly much are now back in the seat. It is working great.

Thanks to Mervyn for organising the Rand fly away. It was fantastic. And again we learnt so much on this trip/route.

Thanks D for taking all the pictures while I was concentrating on the comms and the flying.
