Visited the local airfield here in Phuket.

They have 2 Cosmos trikes and the School uses a Zeneth CH701 (Sky Jeep) for LSA training. They charge.....9000 Baht / hr = R3000...eish...wonder what a helicopter costs. ## LSA, NPL requires 15 hrs dual and 3 hrs solo. Brrrrrr...don't want to meet a newbie in the sky here ## The club and school is run by two Thai Airways Captains, and they introduce themselves as such, Captain Watana and Captain Suchard. Both very friendly and helpful gentlemen. (^^) The airfield is very well maintained and the runway is grass,13/31, mag variance here is 1 deg.

Hay Allan now you have a topic we can talk about.
WTF is this all about. Although I respect the situation very much. Why are we grounded for this. Maybe I am not thinking about all the situations of dignitaries and police airwing activities. But is it really that serious having us buzz our fields and have our fun.

Same bloody cr@p for the soccer World Cup. What do the authority think is going to happen... Someone taking their trike and fly into the union building vhpy . Made out of granite vhpy vhpy vhpy

I think it is just a miss use of power. I would love to read everyone's comment

Howzit Sout... vhpy

In many ways I agree...even heard a story about a balloon pilot who got into serious kakapoopoo in 2010 because he drifted within the "secure airspace"...heard they even told him to divert???! (**) Not sure how true the story is? ^
The idea behind this type of restrictive "Identification Zone" imposed on special events prob has it's roots in the chaos from 9/11....as far as I can remember that was the first terrorist attack involving the use of aircraft?

At least this is only for a week...SWC was nearly a month! 90 heads of state with some serious hardware flying in from all over the world....it would seem that the old man was more popular than the Pope if we look at sheer attendance! Security is obviously very high on the agenda...especially when the star spangled banner pitches up....holy moly have you seen his entourage? (**) Unbelievble...

Welcome Sout (^^)

I have added you to the SMS list for future events as you requested. (^^)

Thanks for trying out the Regulator you have. Pity it is also Kaput. I bought one from Alex and will fit it today. vhpy

Spoke to some Airforce friends, there is a lot of spy equipment from the US deployed for this event. You will not be able to fart without them? knowing about it. Also many additional low level Radar stations to monitor the restricted air spaces. ## ##
