Mooi man... Sorry I missed it. Bo's beast is a new 206 (HUGE BUCK$), based at Rand. Beauty. Short field performance of these beasts are awesome...

PS
Me thinks if the Rietties naming comm gets hold of FFL, it could be abreviated to FL which could in turn would become condom then possibly Durex....

FL, Durex, Rubber, whatever!

Postby ForensicFlyer » Thu Oct 12, 2006 7:37 am

Hehe!

Yes - the FFL can easily be so grossly abbreviated, converted and raped - durex and all...

Thanks for the compliments about the writing... I tend to just chat on my keyboard. Been writing so many reports, articles, letters and sh*t that I am ACTUALLY able to think better on a keyboard...

As far as Trix using my stuff - if it's on here baby, you can do with it as you please! If you want to publish it - go ahead! I write (Forensic Stuff) for MANY magazines, newspapers, etc. and have become known in my circles as an author!

So - if ANYONE wants to get SPECIFIC pics (perhaps of themselves), send me a pm with your e-mail address and I will gladly send them on...

Problem is, they're ALL very big - perfect for publication possibly (nudge, nudge, Trix)...

I cannot thank everyone enough for their kindness and contribution...

I personally likes old Bo's aerie the MOST - always have liked the bigger jols. But they CANNOT do what the "little ones" can in terms of the "freedom of flight..."

Morph - anytime man. I am now committed and I will do my training. We're starting some major (forensic) training and possibly a new government contract (very serious accident investigations, two years) very soon, but I WILL get my license.

Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I think I must do my PPL and COVERT (backwards?) to Microlight...

Then I can buy a microlight for myself, AND hire a bigger aerie for cross-country, work, etc. Ultimately, I would want one of each parked in my hanger... Kinda own a "car" for work and a "scrambler" for weekends, yes?

Thanks agian everyone!

Best Pic...

Postby ForensicFlyer » Thu Oct 12, 2006 7:55 am

Ok,

Since I am an incurable romantic about my business and what we do - here is the best pic of my day...

I don't fly planes, but I have done Cape Town to Beaufort West in 2.5 hours... In a CAR! No - I am not crazy! We were called to an accident where 9 people died, and "responded" there for Provincial Government...

Oh - and it wasn't in the van... The car that did it is in the next pic...

Also, the young guys that used to work for me called me "Zigs" for Forensics... Perhaps a more appropriate name on here?

Now I need to BEAT that in an aerie...

Anyone out there who can get me to Beaufort in less than that?

THAT is an experience I'd like to have!

Hehe!

Stan.

he he he....

I drive a heap, but da toy box has a flying family bus, a GT, a Sporster, scrambler and weekend poer poer in it....

Depends on your budget and timing. Unless you gonna get the PPL in quick time , I would suggest 3 axis ML, then trike convex (or visa versa) and then PPL "crossgrade". Will get you in the sky quicker and flyin is flyin. My PPL took me 18 looooong months, but I had huge budget constaints... Can get entry level trike for only slightly more than a PPL....

The fun flying is in the trike/3 axis market... Compare the number of flyout/flyinn stories on microlighters to Avcom or other aviation sites. If you gonna use the plane for transport, then PPL possibly better, but it will take longer and cost significantly more to get the license and a plane (time & cash)... Hire and fly is also a pain in the ass. I assume like me you will need aeries at short notice. H&F does unfortunately not lend itself to this and there are usually penalties for "sleeping" away from base... In your case I am thinking you would need your own....

If I had to do it all again I would go ML (trike), then 3axis first then PPL. For every hr on the 172 I could have done 2 hrs on a BB or Avid flyer. (or 3 hrs on a beaver)... When I did my license I was oblivious to ML scene and never even knew it existed    but had delusions (sp?) of being a charter jockey...

Bravo FFL! A brilliant piece of writing. Me thinks that between yourself and DH you could start your own Microlighters magazine. You both certainly have a hidden talent for putting pen to paper or in the case keyboard to screen.

I must echo your comments about the helpfulness of the members on this site. I have always wanted to fly but never really thought it was within the realms of possibility. Then I discovered microlighters.co.za about a year ago and have been following the various threads ever since. I have learned so much by just reading and asking the odd question. The same helpful folk answer these questions time and time again, Demon, DH, Rv4ker, Smiley, Chaz, Thunderboy, FF, etc, etc.

I have had the same conundrum in terms of which route to take i.e. mpl or ppl but given the reasons I want to fly and the evident comradery on this site I will most certainly be going the trike route. Just got to get those damn studies finished. Oh and the other problem of pursuading (sp?) my softness.

My first flight in a trike was also an awesome experience. Myself and the softness were on a cruise to the Portuguese Island last year. When we "landed" at the island what do I notice in the sky...a couple of trikes. Well you can imagine the experience. Perfect blue ocean, blue skys, warm air.....landing and taking off on pure white beaches.....well to say I was hooked from then on was an understatement.

FFL you have certainly inspired me to keep my focus on the goal, it will come in time. I also can't wait to meet the "gang" eventually.

Cheers

Si

Writings...

Thanks,

Some more educational writings at:

http://www.arrivealive.co.za/pages.asp? ... dentinvest

Also some "free education" in there...

Arrivealive.co.za is a fantastic sit - perhaps we need similar trends here?
