So...Depends on your budget and timing. Unless you gonna get the PPL in quick time , I would suggest 3 axis ML, then trike convex (or visa versa) and then PPL "crossgrade". Will get you in the sky quicker and flyin is flyin. My PPL took me 18 looooong months, but I had huge budget constaints... Can get entry level trike for only slightly more than a PPL....
The fun flying is in the trike/3 axis market... Compare the number of flyout/flyinn stories on microlighters to Avcom or other aviation sites. If you gonna use the plane for transport, then PPL possibly better, but it will take longer and cost significantly more to get the license and a plane (time & cash)... Hire and fly is also a pain in the ass. I assume like me you will need aeries at short notice. H&F does unfortunately not lend itself to this and there are usually penalties for "sleeping" away from base... In your case I am thinking you would need your own....
If I had to do it all again I would go ML (trike), then 3axis first then PPL. For every hr on the 172 I could have done 2 hrs on a BB or Avid flyer. (or 3 hrs on a beaver)... When I did my license I was oblivious to ML scene and never even knew it existed but had delusions (sp?) of being a charter jockey...
Yes RV!
That's EXACTLY what I had in mind!
So - you will agree that the MPL (trike), MPL (3-Axis) then PPL, and (possibly) instrument, night, etc. later?
I also thought of taking this route...
Get "into the air" asap, then get my own microlight and "become a better pilot," and ultimately get my own 4-seater...
I KNOW I will end up lugging equipment along, and it's not light, but a 4-pax aerie should handle me and my business partner (and softness) just fine!
You've recommended exactly what I had in mind...
Lastly: How many MPL hours are credited towards 3-axis mpl and how many of THOSE to PPL?
Shouldn't this be ANOTHER thread on its own?
Any other takes on this?
I also see this post ended up on the forum twice. Can someone delete the other one please?
