Se ek ook!! Local aircraft manufacturers produce world class aircraft, WHY NOT buy local ? Parts are cheaper and quicker to obtain = less down time  vhpy

I agree - but certain local manufactures are ridiculous with their prices. NOT ALL, but specific ones ..... ## ##

Just watch out, and turn your pennies over twice before sending them with the first supplier you find.

Trike -Raptor for its ruggedness. Must say da Docta's.... Deltajet 2 was a stunning piece all round.
Fixed wing - Cheetah. Another highly under rated aerie.

Just my opinion...

With all due respect I agree with what you say and I would buy local if I could find what I require and that is a 912 powered LSA with a decent turn of speed and some aerobatic capability so I brought a Pioneer 300. However I will soon buy a plane for around the patch flying and will be either a Bushcat or Explorer and will buy as a kit and build it myself. It will of course be a taildragger as I'm hooked on them and if Pioneer made the 300 in a TD I would certainly buy one.

I hardly ever take the bite with this "mine is bigger than yours" discussions as I feel that the proof of the pudding is in the eating but I feel it's time I break this rule.

You can not compare this aircraft for R700k with many of the above mentioned here. Night Rated, training approved, TCAS, MGL Odyssey as main and Xtreme as backup, Transponder, radio, 3 Axis Auto pilot and a 3 blade constant speed prop, 600kg MAUW with a 30kg luggae capcity and 200 liters luggage volume, 105 liters of fuel (wing tanks so no vapour problems like some others here) 115mph cruise in this above setup at MAUW @ 6500ft and stall at 28mph indicated. Take off run yesterday 2 up and full tanks was less than 100m at Petit and I climb out at 800ft/min. Landing was less than 70m.

These airframes will still be around in 70 years like the cubs and pacers. The frame that Jean Tree has is 21 years old and still going strong. Not any other local 3-Axis manufacturer can claim this as far as I know. You can build this kit complete with a Jabi 4 cyl or a Rotax 582 for less than R350 k all new.

Finance now also available.

Just my 2 cents.
