Hi Mulder Pm thanks for the info, I do go to the mapstore and see the maps but it just does not download, maybe because I use the GSM will try with a wifi connection and see what happens.

You are brave and wealthy. These files are 300 meg. That is why WiFi is required. The download is also very very slow. Takes hours. Hope you are succesfull.

Hi Turbo, the major problem with ANP in zimbabwe is we can only download the map of zim,its basiclly a map from google. You can zoom in and even get street names, no much use if you are flying, it has very limited aviation data on it, ie just he major airports are marked,this is the snag.
As for using it, yes it works perfectly I have no issues with that side of it.It would be great if it had the airspace info maps.
This is where Skydemon has the advantage over ANP for use in zimbabwe.

Z-MRP -- I hear you, it doesn't have all the smaller air field data in it, but for South Africa, it has almost all of them, and if you can find one, you can put in the coordinates of it, and set a waypoint to it that way. Never heard of sky demon, will definately check it out too.

Hi Folla.

If you can find an electronic version of the aviation maps for the missing countries you can send them to ANP and they will digitize them for you. I use the android version with tracking and have never looked back. It is easy to use and contains most of the airfields you need. Just waiting for the EFIS ability on android. I use EasyPlan as a backup as they still haven't brought out the android version.

Go to map settings ( the earth logo)

Select airspace as nessasary

You need to go out to the main screen after each adjustment to see the effect.

I think that may be my problem.
The map I'm using was one of the free ones called "South Africa - whole country" .... wait .... I think that is for the background image / map. Should I be using a different one?
What about the air spaces? [I'm confused!]

Hi Bob. The map I use is the bought one called South Africa 500k WAC. It is digitised standard 1:500 000 Aeronaughtical maps from the government printers.

I just had a look at my newly acquired download.
Just like using paper really.... well ..... sort of. The special rules areas are now visible on the map overlay, but are not selectable. Is this correct?

It is definitely better than the free version.

I second that for sure, use it often, even if its just to see how far above ground I'm flying, that's a neat feature, and changes with terrain automatically.
