Skype is as good as stated

Postby ZULU1 » Tue May 02, 2006 9:54 pm

Its excellent as we use it extensively for business,

I have isight also but I phone OZ 53 minutes for 0,43 Euro cents. You pay the local call at destination. 10 Euros lasts me three months and used daily.

Its the best thing for long distance calls possible but you need ADSL or whatever.

I must admit MSN text chat is better for me. Bennie and I was in convo today - admittedly I was doing a sales pitch and it was worth my time for him to have my undivided attention. But for a social chatter talking with voice is too involved for me.

Bennie - You were watching me on video and how many times did I get up and do some other things?

Skype is cool. But MSN chat less obtrusive. If you want to talk shop (and are willing to pay for my time in the long run for consulting services) by all means, skype me - I make a living out of PC consulting (sorry for the blameless sales pitch). Time is money - apologies for being so blunt.

I tried to register today and somebody took Morpheus  . The suggestions came back as Morpheus4356 etc. I thought this is bullsh!t having to share my name with others so to stamp my authority I have registered as MorpheusTheFirst. 8)

However I still don't have a headset and performing a test this morning the audio was breaking up so our 128K line with all it's traffic is going to give me hassles.

Anyway, when I am finally set up I'll try it out.

 Come on Guys, what's this, peck on Bennie day or what.

I merely meant the Guys to make use of Skype when they need to communicate that detailed one on one information sessions. :? Like the stuff DH assisted me with yesterday, man I mean the man know what he is talking about when it comes to IT stuff and there is no way he would be able to make me understand what he was telling me what I needed to do if we were not making use of MSN Messenger.

That said it brings me to the next point and that is that MSN is a must when it have to be used as a business tool, but for simplicity sake I still prefer Skype as a simple communications tool.

For the rest I'm very happy to talk all the bollie I need to by using the web sight.

As for the part of Time is money, I do understand that for some of us can only make money, others can only talk bollie, few of us can make money while talking bollie and for some talking bollie is a part of making money, just always remember that money is not everything in live.

So please don't waste each other's time. DH please quote me on the cams and Skype me with it when you are ready.

warrenhillnortech

I prefer the typing chat as it doesn't require undivided attention?

This is the kind of chat

[15:23:26] Bennie Vorster says: Returning fron X Contry Trike Diving nose down, swirl left and right. Craping myself in 5 seconds, no time for gessing what was wrong. Apply the 180% rule and wiped myself when I was on the ground. Not a good flighe to have the wife on for her first flight.
[15:24:30] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: Sounds like you either hit bad rotor turbulance or a standing wave
[15:24:56] Bennie Vorster says: What is a standing wave?
[15:25:22] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: always approcah a mountain at a 45deg angle if you are unsure of the wind
[15:25:39] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: A standing wave is caused by high winds blowing over the top of a mountain
[15:25:56] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: it creates waves like a pool of water when you drop a stone in it
[15:25:59] Bennie Vorster says: That mean I'll have to go 7500 at least.
[15:26:15] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: it will hit you 20 30 40 miles away from the mountain
[15:26:35] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: you will wither get a moer of a climb followed by a moer of a drop
[15:27:32] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: This happens when there is very high, high level winds. I have felt this once before, strong NE dropped 300ft in 2 sec
[15:28:21] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: check the high level winds on the weather especialy if you stay near mountians or will be traveling to mountains
[15:29:17] Bennie Vorster says: Was about 10 km away at least. You sound right.Looks like one of the two. That 300ft in 2 sec. That was the feeling.(sweat) Not good and it happened so fast there was no time for thinking.
[15:29:41] Ryan (Thunderboy) says: how big a mountain?
[15:30:25] Greg Perkins aka Morph says: Yip, that's it, free falling then klap you hit the bottoms and suddenly you are climbing

You guys won’t believe it but I had to buy an extra screen to accommodate the list of new guys that joined the Skype Group. It sure is a busy, interesting and lively forum.

The problem with this Skype thing, it's detracting from as really good forum. It's nice to have a bit of a chat but it's the forum that I love . Let's not push it to be the next medium.
