Inquiry for pilots of Microlights

Postby Laurenz » Wed Apr 26, 2006 9:51 am

Hi,

Let me introduce myself. I’m Laurenz, a Belgian student.
I’m writing my thesis about the situation on the Microlight market, this for all airplanes, gyroplanes, trikes,… with a weight of under 450 kilos (about 990lbs). Microlights are also frequently called Ultralights or ULMs.

To know something more about the pilot’s preferences, I’ve decided to set up an inquiry. The inquiry is completely anonymous. The only personal thing I ask is the country you live in, because I want to find out the differences between pilots in different countries.

The inquiry takes less than 5 minutes.

This inquiry is a very important part of my thesis, so your corporation is of crucial importance to me.

Click on the link to go to the inquiry http://www.studentenonderzoek.com/?qid=13586&ln=eng

Thank you so much for your corporation!

looks like hinting at a diesel powered aero-engine...

Ever been done before? I would think you would end up with quite a heavy turbo'ed thing? Although we have a few deisel gennies and they are only slighty larger than the two stroke petrol jobbies. Hang of alot more expensive though.

It has been done. Actually these engines run on jet fuel, only using the diesel principle.

The answers to the cost of fuel vs the consumption may cause some confusion. I think many people would fly what ever the fuel cost but want a good fuel consumption to give a decent range.

Thank you so much for answering my inquiry!

I will definitely post the results. It might still take some time because I just set up a French version as well. But in a couple of weeks I'll post the results or give a link to the website where the results can be found.

The purpose of the question about Diesel powered engines was to know whether there are a lot of people with prejudices towards Diesel engines.
I also wanted to know the percentage of the so called pionneers who would buy the engine immediately.

Thanks again!
