Kitfox Down At Rhino all OK

This morning while out on a pleasure flight and on the return I heard a young lady pilot call her position to land at Rhino and I was on the desent to join a right down wind for 09 when they touched down on 27 and during the slowing down we saw the a/c go off the runway to the right and turn over. Well the folks all on the ground ran to assist while we still did 2 orbits to give them time to clear the a/c out of the way for us to land safe. Her are the pic's of Alecia who was in command as you see she was ok but her dad Andre' had a knock on the head and bleeding. All the wounds on Adre' was cleaned up and closed and then the firebrigade and all the medics in the are arrived they were on site within 15 min and we are in the bundu's Thanks guys. So only a bent a/c and a ego but not agood start to the Easter weekend. I then proceeded to drop Andre' and Alecia off at Petit where a very worried mother and wife was waiting.

One of the tail-wheel pilots at our airfield has said many times: "those buggers can bite!"

They hone your skills, and trample your ego. Sometimes the combination is not too bad for a pilot

But I think for the average lady-pilot who generally does not have a big ego to start with, and I find are usually quite skilled, it must give a huge knock to your self-esteem. Hopefully some of the older tail-wheel/dragger pilots can relate their ground-loops. Its the stuff beers around a fire are made of

Yeah tail draggers do bite. I'm glad they're all OK and I hope Alecia get's back into the saddle soon. Ground loops happen to all taildragger pilots some time in their career. Fortunately for me I had more than my fair share on R/C planes to turn me off for life.

I just had some feedback about Andre' who was flying with his daughter.
He has a damaged vertabre,concussion,some cracked ribs and the laceration on his head. Glen said that after all had left he went back and evaluated. The a/c left the runway at a speed and went through a small ditch which caused the nose to get airborne again and then the nose hit the deck first causing the nose wheel to break off and then the plane rolled over on it's back. Glen was later telling me that when he reached the halfway mark running towards the plane he realised and thought of the fuel spilling and no extinguiser but this was not the time to turn back and he continuied running until he reached the plane and assisted the two pax to get out.
Some thing that he could not understand was that other aviators took a strole over to ther plane. And once again the parramedicks, ambulance and fire brigade was there in a nick of time. During all of this I was orbeting overhead waiting for them to clear the wreckage so we could land. I must say with all the stress I put down a greeser.

It looked quite well balanced on the tail. I thought it was either a 'dragger or tailwheel broke off, and I thought that was the exhaust pipe in front, bent by the impact

I hope Andre heals well, and that Alecia gets another chance to take him us soon.

When I hangered at Rhino I looked at this Kitfox with soft eyes, she is/was a beauti.
The present owners converted her to a tri-gear
