Do you have a problem reading here over ADSL?

Postby DarkHelmet » Tue Apr 11, 2006 7:33 am

Do you log in and see new posts and then next moment they are all marked as read?

I have that - the reason being is that Telkom is cache-ing requests "transparantly" for us to save their own bandwidth. Thus the forum software gets confused.

You can work around that by adding cache.saix.net port 8080 to you browser proxy settings.

for Internet Explorer: Click Tools - Internet Options - Connections

If you have a "router" click on LAN Settings - enter cache.saix.net in the proxy box and make sure use proxy is on, enter 8080 in the port box - click apply and OK.

If your PC has to connect to ADSL first - Click on the connection in the top box that is relevant and enter the proxy settings there!

This also solves the same problem on other forums and with some other websites.

DH, but adjusting these settings, is it not going to bugger-up other settings and connections etc etc. would hate to change something, and wipe out everything of the main disk, (I think it's caled the C drive)

No - it will just route all your web browser traffic through the known proxy at Telkom - instead of them doing it transparantly for you.
