Satellite Maps

Postby ICEMAN » Wed Apr 05, 2006 6:33 pm

Who knows how to save a google satellite map image...... ive tried the <file> command but does it not allow saving, ive tried right clicking with the mouse on the image that im veiwing, also no joy....... the only options i can find are to print (which just comes out as a total grey page) or to email the page (but that only sends the link to my email address)........

I know it can be done as ive seen some of the terrain images posted on this forum with some graphics and writing inserted into the image....

Hit the PrintScreen button.
Go to Start, Programs, Accessories and then open the good 'ole Windows Paint program.
Click Edit, click Paste.
Message appears:"The image in the clipboard is larger than the bitmap. Would you like the bitmap enlarged?".....Click Yes.
.....hey Presto! The image, including the entire screen contents, appear!! :D
File, Save as... (It will save as a .bmp)
You can now convert it to a .gif or .jpg or whatever you like and edit out the rest of the contents of the screen that was captured that you don't want in the picture. ## ## ##

I'll send the invoice later...

You can also use ALT+[Print Screen] instead of just [Print Screen], as it will only copy the active window and not the whole desktop :)

Woody,

I would estimate the pics are fairly old.... taken at least 2years ago (thumb suck), if i compare the buliding development around my neighborhood for the last 2 yrs, it doesnt show on the sat pics at all.....

Hey ICEMAN

Apparently the most up todate pics are of Iraq and most military bases!!! My area is also about 2 years out of date.

A contour overlay would be fantastic, you often don't get a proper idea of the relief from these.

Im sure Uncle Sam has done quite a bit of "landscaping" in Iraq with his version of the trike (the b2 bomber).. :!:

Probably live sat video 24hrs a day in that area.....
