Any ML jockeys on forum from Taung/Hartswater/Ganspan area

Postby RV4ker (RIP) » Mon Feb 20, 2006 7:11 pm

Was flying low level in Buxton area (Near Taung/Hartswater/Ganspan/Vryburg) and heard couple ML boys on the RT also checking out the water. Was awesome sight in area where water is not seen often (let alone in these volumes)

Just wondered if they got any pics and if they on forum? If there are any pic's please email to me. george @ gbfs . co . za. (My camera died on the flight   )

Ta..

Hello there RV4ker
Yes, I'm close to your valley. Only find out when I saw you talking about those towns. I'm on a farm 80 km south of Reivilo in the area between Kuruman and Danielskuil. You gave me a great Idea. Will defintely go check it out. Heard about that area a lot but has never been there.
They said the area flooded the past week so I bet it will be spectacular.
If you could give me the coordinates of where it is, I will go and take some pics and put it on the forum. Will be great to meet some day, since theres definitely not many microlighters around here.....

Cool.

I based Jhb, but have business interests in area and spend plenty time in Vryburg and surrounds.

Don't have co-ords with me, basically I flew IFR (I fly Rivers), towards the Sun from Taung. Apologies about Bush GPS co-ords, but never been there before by air and Trike jockey was was guiding us in...    . When I get to a map I will try to decipher, but sight was awesome. River was flowing over roads and like I never seen it before (even in 1988 floods). Gone down plenty now (flew Sunday), but DIE POELE (Buxton) they tell me are still quiet spectacular. Check last weeks front page Stellalander or Streeks Nuus for pic from ground? (Guys based at Ganspan were in air every afternoon for quick flip Taung Dam, Buxton and then hime)... On Wed we were 7 or 8 aeries in air (3 bliks and 4 ML's). I did not even know there were than many plnaes based here....

PS
Have a building in Postmasburg so have prob flown over your spot on route to Danielskuil....

Helo there RV :D
Went to Buxton this morning, and it was awsome.
Took some great pics. I dont know if you knew, but there are some more waterfalls towards the north of spitskop dam. They are even better than the one at Buxton. How in this world can I get those pics in this forum. :?:  Can you please let me know. Otherwise I can just email them to you.
