My co-pilot ("Johnny Solo") and i decided to make a concerted effort to get out to new fields during 2006.
We planned a flight for last week monday morning to Springs. Johnny phoned Fred the previous evening to get a few details for Springs prior to our arrival.
We rotated on Monday morning at about 06h15 (blue skies, zero wind) and set course for Springs. :D
After a few mins flying, we noticed a slight haze developing.

By this stage we had climbed to 7000ft

Both of us agreed it was time to return home as the prospect of flying an unfamiliar route/ area, to an unknown field with poor viz was a "no go".
We duly arrived back at our hanger and started packing up..... then Johnny`s phone rang...... it was Fred from Springs. He was just checking if we were ok, and had actually headed out in his Trike earlier in the morning to intercept us at the halfway mark and escort us back to Springs (which incidently turned out to be clear wx for Springs)....
When we contacted Fred the previous evening, it had simply been for a few pointers regarding joining, landing, etc..... not in our wildest dreams had we imagined that Fred would even consider coming out to escort us in.....
Is this normal behavior for the Springs flyers?

Johnny and i are used to recieving "regular corrospondence" (read: once a year) from our club essentially stating "its time to pay yearly membership fees, or else you cant hanger here anymore".....

Never in our wildest dreams did we expect, or are used to this type of hospitality from a flying club...(perhaps its time to move our bird across to a new coop

So well done Springs.......
