Re: Snake formation team
We stopped flying as a team because of several reasons; bureaucracy from ASSA, RAASA and the CAA being a big part of that. Our pyrotechnics were also a headache for the organisers as we would often start fires on the ground! On those grounds it was a fair comment that they did not want us to use pyr...

Re: Flips can be very expensive
Sounds to me as if she might be right though; flying into mist and rain- poor judgement on the pilots part. I'd be pissed off too if I were her- but again, that is just what I glean from the newspaper report. Who knows what exactly happened- but it seems to me that its not just about Belfast (even t...

Looking for a wreck...
One of my Mountain Club Search and Rescue buddies called me for assistance today. They are looking for a smallish (1-2 seater or up to a 4 seater) old wrecked aircraft that they can take and use for an exercise in the Magaliesberg- they're going to smash it up a bit more and you're not likely to get...

Re: BMW Engined Aquilla
Yep, its hangared at Panorama, has been for the past couple of years- with the BMW engine. I intend bringing it back home to my workshop in the next few weeks and may work on it later at my own cost to see if I can get it flying...

Re: BMW Engined Aquilla
What ussually happens with such projects- the money runs dry....
All aviaition endeavours are horribly expensive and, whilst this one is not megabucks, its enough to allow only 'luxury' funds to fuel it. Not been many luxury funds about on the last couple of years...

A bit of progress, we have the gearbox back and I have put it back on and done some more tests and mods; have a look at http://rawhyde.wordpress.com/ for details.

Looking for a Bantam or Cheetah
Hey there, A vet friend of mine has asked me to assist him with a game count in Mozambique and Tanzania next week, but I need an aircraft to do it with! I am looking for a Cheetah or Bantam to hire from Monday/ Tuesday next week, for a week. I am instructor qualified on both aircraft and have a good...

Re: BMW Engined Aquilla
I agree, it would be good to have one of those in a portable manner to be able to tune better. Did you order yours directly from those guys or get it here in SA? How much did you pay for it. We paid around R4.5K for the one on the Subaru engine.

Re: BMW Engined Aquilla
Hi there Stephan, That does help in the process; on the Subaru engine that I am performing a similar process on we have EGT's and an air/ fuel ratio sensor, but EGT's by themselves can provide you with enough feedback to tune the engine if you know what you are doing. Hopefully I will ge to that poi...

Hi there Bernie, Welcome to the forum! Thanks for the compliments and sorry that I have taken some time to get back to you. Re: Farewell Henk...
Jacques, alias 'Boer' asked me to post Ebens speech here: Dear friends and family, I have been asked to say a few words in remeberance of Henk. How do you pay tribute and where do you find words that will be fitting for a moment such as this where we all have deep longing for a friend that has passe...
