Re: MISASA ARO / MOP PLUS New SACATS AND CARS Open for Comme
You know what would be really nice:
Given the fact that governance of our sport has been awarded to an ARO (MISASA) - If MISASA did all licencing and regulation also. Then its one stop shopping for pilots and we pay fees to one organization / authority which includes all aspects of flying / owning Microlight/ LSA. This would give MISASA even more recognition and clout.
I do understand that the laws, system and politics are more complex than that. However, I have a wish that this is where MISASA could be heading. That would be great.
We are alowed to dream aren't we?
To the volunteers. Thank you for all you're doing for us to help our sport survive.

Hmmm, that would be an interesting scenario - then we could receive salaries with 2000 bosses

Re: MISASA ARO / MOP PLUS New SACATS AND CARS Open for Comme
As was preciously mentioned, this is a culmination of many years work, a lot of effort by many people over the years, and rightly or wrongly the current committee gets the credit for the outcome - but I would like to add my voice of appreciation to those people who have put in the effort for the rest of us that shout the odds from the side line vty
Again, notwithstanding the efforts and results of previous committees, I am convinced that we have a professional and competent committee in place and they deserve our support, and no, that does not imply that we should not challenge our committee's decisions where we deem it appropriate
Thanks to the entire committee from my side

Re: MISASA ARO / MOP PLUS New SACATS AND CARS Open for Comme
I think that MISASA comes under some unfair criticism due to the some peoples ignorance. I think that they are doing their best in the interests the microlight community and should get the acknowledgement that they deserve for their efforts.
I think that if there is one thing that really irritate most micro-lighters, it is the amount of paperwork associated with staying legal and not the amount of money they have to pay. I therefore have to support the suggestion above getting one organization to pay a single fee for all paperwork, including a radio licence etc. Obviously there will be an administration cost for this. I do not think that MISASA should do it but suggest with RAASA should be approached do this. Maybe MISASA can negotiate with RAASA to this?
Note that this is not the first time that this has been suggested but up till now there has not really been much support for it.

Re: MISASA ARO / MOP PLUS New SACATS AND CARS Open for Comme
Over the years this has been motivated on a number of occasions. I agree it is great idea. This is what the idea behind RAASA was - ie to outsource governance and licencing from the CAA to a private body so that pilots govern pilots! What has happened is that, governance via the ARO goes to MISASA, licencing to RAASA and other matters eg rebuilds to the CAA. Thus whilst the process of hand over to a new order is incomplete, you have to "jive" with yet another dancer! But, the trick is to know who you need to dance with and when because each only "jives" to certain tunes! This means that you need to put money in the jute box to get each to jive and you need to know what tunes each of the jute boxes plays! I do however believe that when the process is complete there will be less jute boxes! I do not see just one admin fee for all will work but one membership fee to the pilot association that is the delegated ARO for your class of recreational aviation and a variable fee based to the transactions that you need processed eg two planes 2 ATF's - one plane 1 ATF. Student licence, renewals etc are applicable to different people at different times.
