Deons CH 750 Project (Was Conrads)
Started this thread on Avcom, but as most of my flying mates are on Microlighters, decided to move it here.
After thinking about building my own aircraft for the past 5 years, I have finally taken the plunge and decided on a Zenith CH 750. I purchased the kit from Phil @ Bundu Aviation and started construction on the 08 Feb 2011. I have taken photos using my Blackberry, so the quality isn't the best (since all my building is done at night).

Love the pics, please keep posting them!
How have you found the kit and build so far? I believe the Zenith kits are all encompassing and 'relatively easy' to assemble?
Have you built another aerie before this one?!
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, hope you'll still be flying the Challenger..

Well done Conrad,
did you get the "most of aircraft from 0.025 instead of 0.020 thickness material. Special order for materials upgrade" kit from Philip? Was seriously looking at this kit a while back and when I saw it was sold was very
good luck, will be following your build!
Regards,
Deon

Re: Conrads CH 750 Project
Nope, the only extras I got was the tundra tyres and long range fuel tanks. The 0.2 skin is fine, once you have riveted it onto the skeleton, its pretty strong. I am also priming the whole inside shell, so I don't want the extra weight. I must say the kit goes together very well, everything lines up and fits.

Re: Conrads CH 750 Project
The kit is great and I am enjoying the build. You kind of get into a rhythm and before you know, 4 hours have passed (thats how long I spend each evening building). I have had some head scratching moments (having one at the moment), but a bit of internet research and bugging Phil Cronje and you are back on your way. This is my first kit, but I used to build model airplanes before this. I guess if you are comfortable reading plans and relatively handy, anyone can do it. I have to stop myself every now and then as mistakes are easy to make. Measure, measure, check, cleco, measure and then drill. I will have to sell my Challenger to pay for the engine and instruments, but that is a few months away.LenM wrote:Love the pics, please keep posting them!
