Uncle spud,

Wintervogel is 1616km from your hottest.

Is is just under 40km from cape town and is on the edge of TMA A of cape town internasional airport.

To be more exact, is is situated between Durbanville and malmesbury, about 5km north of klipheuwel and is a lovely area to fly around.

When are you coming to visit the fairest cape/cape of storms!!??

Regards,

Dankie Wargames,

The eleven month nightmare is coming to an end. Our house buyers are still keen to buy and we hope (Thumbs Crossed) to be flying into Jo'burg to begin our new life around the 2nd week of October. Wintervogel on the 25th would have been awesome, beyond anything I could imagine but ouch!!! Too far from the hottest (Nicely phrased) for this year. (**)

Will be travelling down to Cape Town to share a Klipdrift or maybe two with JetRanger at the earliest opportunity which as we all know means the softness saying "Yeah right, nothing more for you to do now so of you go and have your jolly". Naturally softness will be with me because JetRanger will never forgive me for leaving her behind, so he wont. ## ##

It will be good so it will, to finally land in SA. To live the rest of my life there and to watch our Grandson grow into a fine young man like his Father.

Alles van die beste to you Wargames and everyone else (^^) (^^)

BTW How do spell 'Thank you very much'?

Uncle Spud,

That would be "Baie Dankie".

That is the easy part. Let me know when you are in cape town. Jetranger and I share a hanger, so would like to meet you as well. I you want to experience flight in the raw form, come with me in my trike, and after wards Jetranger can dish up one his magical breakfasts with one of his specialist cape town tours in his 5 star gyro. (you should see the legroom!!  )

The problem is, if one can call it one, it is originally a dirt runway with a fair amount of stones being washed and blown open on the surface all the time, it was then left to be covered by natural grass growth to eventually obtain a solid grass strip that would also contain the stones being washed open. However, with the grass starting to cover the field from the sides and leaving a narrow dirt strip and patches of grass down the middle, it now makes for a bumpy landing in some areas. Because of the wet conditions the strip hasn't been cut for a while now and worsenes the situation.

But, we will have the strip mowed and all the patches of grass removed down the centre of the strip for the fly-in. This should leave a fairly decent surface with a narrow dirt strip down the middle and grass on both sides. By landing slightly off centre one can obtain a nice all grass surface to land on too. The runway area is wide but avoid landing far off-centre as the surface becomes unsuitable for landing due to uneveness and some mole-holes. The runway is also 1000m long so it has ample landing surface.
