Re: Africa Cup 24-28 Sept - Numbi Hotel
What an awesome event. Wed morning blasted over the escarpment reaching 145 mp/h ground speed @ 10 000ft, 190 miles in 2.1 hours. Considered landing at Kwena dam, after orbiting to 35 m/ph headwind just turned around again.
Seriously festive,.......newbie liver shiver Stroll Rum indoctrination.
They just don't make ceiling fans like they used to.
Treated by our very own aerobatics pilot doing multiple barrel rolls with helmet on in the pub.
Joined a gaggle from Hazyview to Barberton, snaking down along the Kruger fence, legal height in perfect conditions to Pyramid in Barberton. Herds of over 300 buffalo, ellies, hippos, crocs and 2 rhinos posing for us. Amazing.
The flour bombing and speed run was great. Need to work on the biceps. Wife and brats joined, went on Canopy tours, quad biking, enjoyed by all.
Joined the cautious and decided to stay over Sunday for better weather with hilarious mates, Flo, Poopsie and co. Returned this morning after 2.3 hours, a lekker flight.
Eleven hours of awesome pleasure, see you all again.

Thanks to everyone especially Rob and Michelle for planning a fantastic few days. Thanks for the entertainment "uncle barrel roll" , this really is a great few days of incredible flying and good fun. I would encourage everyone to try and make this event at least once because once you've been you never want to miss another one.
The flight down was just incredible (thanks Rudi and Springs guys), 130mph ground speed over the mountains and then a long bumpy descent into Hazyview. Thursday morning no flying (big hangover), ribbon cutting and spot landings in the afternoon. We completed the Nav on Friday morning and Friday afternoon did some more precision skills. Saturday morning the weather started to look decidedly dodgy but the mountains were open so headed up to Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes, and Blyde River Canyon - beautiful flying. Then the wind started pumping so drank beer and watched the mighty sharks annihilate the hapless lions again. Sunday dawned with terrible low cloud on the escarpment so we flew out east to the kruger fence and did some gameviewing and then packed the wing (thanks to the rietfontein boys for their help) and trailered home. A combination of late nights and early mornings saw me asleep by 7 Sunday evening with great memories again
Thanks everyone and see you all next year

Nkwazi, Our Pleasure, we did nothing, only talk, you did the flying! Some nasty rotors with that 70+MPH Tailwinds down the escarpment causing severe rotors and mountain waves...
Lekker time was had. We, the 7 x Manne van Staal (Springs), got home this morning 3H10 minutes in Blue Skies all the way, no Fog or Mist encountered at all. We are glad we waited another day for WX to clear up.

Yeah it was great,
I have never laughed as much in my life
Didn't get in as much flying as I wanted, but the hours I got was great. Excellent seeing the guys taking part in the comp (I made the safe call not to participate on Thursday, cause of wind etc, and me only having 10 hours on my trike). I will however be practicing, so I will be ready for the next event
This is a great event and shouldn't be missed
Thanks guys and gals.
