SHUMBA VALLEY FLY-INN 27 NOV 2015

Postby barmour » Wed Sep 16, 2015 10:31 am

We are having a Fly Inn weekend for Gyro`s and Microlights to Shumba valley guest farm in the Eastern Free state Highlands, on weekend of 27 Nov 2015. All those interested please let me know. On Saturday morning either do a scenic trip over Katze dam in Lesotho or over Golden gate and Sterkfontein dam. What we have decided to do is fly over Golden Gate then Sterkfontein dam then land at Amphitheater back packers near Bergville for lunch then either return over Lesotho or back the same route. Amphitheater backpackers have a ## nice long runway with no obstacles either side and have a nice restaurant. What does that sound like?posting.php?mode=edit&f=5&p=233281&sid= ... 804bc0a47c#

The Run way is 500m it has trees on both ends but one side open to the right. It is slightly uphill . Most of the time you can land uphill and take ## off downhill. We are quite sheltered from the wind.

You guys can always stop (peestop) here at my place.I am on easyplan FAMuHo,Muller Farm.I am 10nm south of Heilbron next to the R57 tar road. One strip is 920m and the other 520m and no landing fees..I fly a Sling and you are always welcome for a stop.If you contact me a few days before then I can arange some mogas.I would not recommend Heilbron as they use the runway for driver license training and there is always rocks and whatever on the runway.

Hi Guys

Beware of the weather this time of year over the escarpment especially near the Drakensberg (best time early mornings and late afternoons), weather change very fast within 30 minutes it can be hectic.
