Brits Flying Club will have their 7th Peter Hengst Memorial Fly-in on 11 - 13 November 2016. This follows onto the past 3 year's big success.

Last year, despite stupid weather, we had 126 aircraft.

We expect a massive attendance:
-The EAA will use this day to have the EAA Sun&Fun at Brits with pilots arriving on the Friday already.
-Neil Bowden will host his popular Oshkosh 2016 reunion (The Pilgrimage).
-The Airplane Factory have their 3rd Sling owners get together.
-Kranskop Gliding Club (our local engineless folks, will entertain with towing, aeros and their famous gliding simulator)
-We are working hard to have FABS registered as a SAMAA airfield by then as well

As always, the microlighters are all welcome for coffee and breakfast, or stay the whole day. Come camp and enjoy local Craft Beer.
This year we have a Vark-on-Spit and a Skaap-on-Spit for Saturday evening.

Camping, food, AVGAS and MOGAS available.

More info : info (at) britsflyingclub . co . za or Johan at 071 444 0928.

Hoping to see lots of you vhpy

Also following predictions closely. We will be pulling the big-shot forecasters in tomorrow on what is up.

An event like this has a lot of people sitting on the edge of their seats. It's my 5th year at the head, and jeez, it kills my nerves  . Huge catering deposits, ATC, emergency services, local municipality applications, SAPS etc etc.

Will update tomorrow. Let's first get the weather gurus' opinions tomorrow.

Haven't had a chance yet, but is Potties looking better (or rather, getting to Potties)?

Nico, wat sê julle weervoorspelling?

As al die weervoorspellers ook jok sal die weer net-net vliegbaar wees, maar aai, sal Saterdag sien.

Roel, is daar enige spesiale prosedures vir die naweek? Byvoorbeeld ander frekwensie, ATC, brandstof (A & M) beskikbaarheid ens

We've pulled in some serious gurus on the weather, but it is looking positive, although everyone must please play it safe.

Thanks Jetman vhpy . I'll do a short version again:

The Tower will be manned by ATC from 08h00 to 16h00.
If ATC is not yet on duty, do a normal unmanned procedure and join overhead 1500AGL. Brits is 3700 AMSL.
Call ATC inbound on 124.20 (I think this is normally from about 5NM out).
Runway 02 (uphill and into wind) is most likely to be in use.
ATC will therefor give you Right downwind for 02.
Once on the ground ATC will pass you on to the marshals.
Ground marshals will take over from there to assist with your parking.

Plenty of Avgas @ about R 16.50 (we received another 12000 liters this weekend). Mogas is also available at pump prices.

If you do not fly, come thirsty! We got Drayman's Brewery lined up with a lovely Berghoff beer on tap.
Remember the lamb and pork spitbraai Saturday evening.

Arno Jantz's might also bring his 2.8 meter 5-cylinder radial warbird for a static display.

And not to be missed, if you attend, is a walk to the Kranskop Gliding Club hangar to take a flight in their amazing simulator.
