Hi Paul
The Kroon list is growing and these are commited flyers. At this stage we are 7 aeries.

Will get a list of them of who wants Accomodation and who are going to camp.

Hi Paul.

I am pulling out all stops to join you on whats going to be an epic trip., but as yet there are longterm work commitments that is still being changed.
If I miss the boat on the chalets , I'll have to do the tent option.
Put me down as 100% committed, bar the work issue. ( in process of being adressed)

Paul, have you decided yet on the base camps and the order of visit? Need to determine distances and fuel (avgas) availability as well as runway lengths.

Has anybody had any difficulties with flying on a MPL in Botswana during these trips?

Guys I am in Kasane at the moment. Lots of info to share but will do so when I am back in SA.

To fly NTCA (MPL) in Botswana you need clearance.....that is all.

No Massimo, it is most definitely not a manne only trip. There will be something for everyone.. (^^)

Must go, the river cruise is waiting for us. ^

dag almal,

sal waardeer as julle my kan antwoord.

veilig vlieg

groete

pit bull.

Back in SA.

The strips at Elephant Sands and Pandamatenga are definitly not servicable. It looks like it will have to be Gweta and/or Nata that will be a refuel stop on our way to Kasane. There are three strips on the A33 between Nata and Kasane which are part of the road. They are clearly marked on the road and each is a kilometer or more long. We can easily refuel on one of them as well. There is very little traffic on the road and they are definitly official strips.

Spoke to the debriefing officer at Kasane and he informed me:
1) No transponder required. Just report on VHF (118.6) when 10Nm out.
2) They will arange an un unlimited flying package. As a ballpark, for 10 planes for 4 days, P5000 ~~ P125 p/p/p/d. I think it is a bargain!
3) To fly to Vic Falls you need to log a flight plan and request clearance 24 hrs in advance. No costs involved?

The road strips are at, S18.10809 E25.32046, S19.04527 E25.70529 & S19.66665 E26.03149.

Francistown, Nata, Maun & Kasane have 93 or 95 UL MOGAS. Price, P9.80/L

Ben, owner of Elephant Sands will put me in contact with someone in Maun that will give me details of disused Hunting camps with strips in the forest reserves south of Chobe.
