The fridge will be stocked to capacity and anything that does not fit will be on site.Bundy wrote:A reminder that beers/ciders and cooldrinks will be on sale at R10 each (While stocks last!!)....you are welcome to bring your own too.
There is also red, white & rose whine for R15 per glass. And instead of the, Klippies and Cola, which some do not like the taste of, I will stock a bottle of Klipdrif and a bottle of Captain Morgan. These will sell for R5 per tot (25ml).
See you Saturday.

Re: The Microland Files "Episode 4" Wing rigging July 6th 20
Firstly, I'd like to sincerely thank Jenya from Aerossa and his trusty sidekick Paul who gave us some of their time and expertise yesterday. There are little tricks and techniques demonstrated to us by them that really make the rigging and de rigging a much simpler process... including the method whereby the wing is positioned onto the assembled a frame first thus allowing you to keep the dacron off the ground for the entire process. This is especially useful in an area where you may not have the luxury of grass!
Thanks again to all of you who made the effort to attend, especially those mad men from the north who drove hours and many km's to attend.
To the Potties Patrollie, you guys really are a dedicated bunch of pilots, and as a sign of my appreciation for your ongoing support of this Tailwinds initiative, I would like to offer you your next booking for "Episode 5" as complimentary.
I took many photo's of the procedure both the rigging and de rigging and will be happy to share them with whoever would like them. Please PM me your e mail address and I will gladly send you the whole sequence.
It is impossible to host these events without the dedicated efforts of my fellow Tailwinds. Many thanks to Paul and Dionne Mulder, Nick Swardt and my partner in crime Stephanus for their help on the day. We are spoilt at FABA to have our resident Johanness who ensures we all have a nice clean venue and as always we are indebtted to him as well for his hard work.
Here are a few pic's of the day.

Re: The Microland Files "Episode 4" Wing rigging July 6th 20
Thanks Jenya & Paul and of course Bundy for all the organising. I have folded up my wing many times but again one learns every day. Some points below.
1) You dont have to remove the centre and the two battens on each side. In fact it is preferable for wear and tear purposes not to remove them.
2) If you have grass or a soft clean surface available you can rig/derig the wing on the ground if not, start by assembling the A frame and then let the folded up wing stand on the frame while assembling / disassembling (top of mountain hang glider pilot style)
3) Always detension the wing (release spreader bar) before removing the battens and keep left and right separate.
4) Make sure the spreader bar cables are one on each side of the king post
5) Fold the wing sail like an envelope and then role it up on to itself befoe loosly strapping the leading edges together
6) Insert two padding squares over the hang block before you start derigging the wing. One will be wrapped arounf the hang block and the other around the folded up A frame
7) To minimise chaffing while the wing is in the two cradles on the trailer you should attach a hammock type strap accross the U brackets. The wing can then hang suspended and swing back and forth in this hammock and does not rub against the bracket. (Thanks Flo Momberg for the concept)
Many more but for me these are critical.
Cheers
