If not, let me know and I will bring you some! (^^)

On my trip to Rhino and back on Saturday I had enough!

BUT . . . . if you want to play a little in my sandpit you may need a little more!

Awesome many thanks John I knew I could count on you for this one, will amend my flight plan and watch your weather reports with great anticipation, this ought to be a very cool x-country! (^^)

Only one slight problem you might have Ant . . . . once you experience what I have to show you, you won't want to go back home!

I flew it on Saturday into a headwind to get to Rhino Park . . . . it was L-O-N-G and S-L-O-W!!!

(^^)
Hi John sorry stupid question can't one just ask permission to route through their CTR & then as a plan B route around the top?

Yes, you can ask, but more often than not you will be denied clearance due to para jumping, which is quite active at FAWB!! :(

This happened to me the time before last . . . . on the route east they allowed me through and so I routed just north of the Magaliesberg, but on the route west (later in the morning) they had para jumping, so denied me and asked me to request permission from FAWK ATC and to route through FAWK CTR. FAWK ATC didn't answer (a chopper was also frantically trying to raise them) and so I ended up routing through FAWK CTR without permission, but this meant flying over a built up area (Pretoria North) ## ##

The safe option is around the top of FAWB CTR, but as I say, have your fuel reserves worked out and be prepared for the 'scenic route'!

Cool thanks John, just spoke to Vicky (FAWB TWR) and she said they'll try their best to accommodate a group of trikes routing through

But I'll plan as if we had to route north to avoid their CTR (Kroon ---> Freeway ---> Cullinan dam)

Cheers

On ALL my trips to Harties or Brits and back I was only shown away once by FAWB. 95% of the time they have routed me over the ridge south of the field. :) Maybe its in the way you ask? vhpy

Updated plan, eish this is turning out to be an epic x-country (total time 3 hours incl. 30 min. stop)

Fuel required 50l incl reserve so would be best to put a can on the back seat or refuel at Aviators Paradise (apparently they have a bowzer)

BUT will most probably route through FAWB CTR & cut +/- 10nm off the total dist...

Thanks for all the help/advice so far much appreciated! (^^)

Now that's what I'd like to hear (^^) As soon as my planets align I'd like to tackle this, this weekend I can't fly :( but as soon as the Tedderfield dust has settled I'd like to give it a go - also gives us some time to sharpen the ATC talk lingo skillz

Did this trip today, had very nice brekkie at Aeroden, the cloud blankets around Harties was a sight to behold

I should really invest in that GoPro Black Edition now :)
