ZS to ZU

Postby Av8rgroot » Thu Aug 21, 2014 8:53 am

I'm somewhat new to South African aviation (coming from the U.S.) So here a few basic questions:

The older microlights have ZS registrations. Does this have an impact on how they are maintained versus a ZU registered aircraft?

If so, Is it worth changing a ZS registered microlight like a Quicksilver over to a ZU registration?

What's involved in that process?

Any input is welcome. - Thanks

ZS-Uxx and up are mostly NTCA (same as ZU). The reg can give you an idea of aircraft class, but is not a guaranteed indicator. Need to look at the aircraft paperwork for that.

All microlights are NTCA, so reg is not an issue.
