PPl Conversion to MPL

Postby klein » Fri Jun 01, 2012 1:03 am

Can someone please help.
My son did his PPl and wants to fly microlight now, what needs to be done to convert?
I also want to do MPL , I need to know if I do the same subjects as PPL ? ( I suppose Principles of flight might de different )
We are in Ellisras, Northern Province, does anybody know where the closest School is, to do MPL training.
Thanks. ( Andre )

Hi Klein,
What type of MPL. Is it trikes, LSA, CCM etc.? If it is CCM or LSA then it will only be a conversion. There is a spreadsheet on the RAASA website that details the migration requirements between categories. http://www.raasa.co.za

I think this is the link

Hi Klein

I received the following info from RAASA about a month ago. This is for converting from PPL to Weight Shift MPL.
This is what you need:
Student License
Principles of Flight exam
Airframes Exam
10 hours dual
5 solo take-offs & landings
Cross country on discretion of instructor, if you did your PPL the cross country can be relaxed.
Flight Test
