RAASA has had talks with CAA with regard to a Part 96 exemption for the necessity to have an Air Operators Certificate and thus a legal framework for flipping. Still early days though and it will still entail certain criteria and thus not a "free for all" to do flipping.... Will keep you posted.

Hi John, One thing that came out at the Instructors meetings was that the Part 96 (flipping operations only) can be a stand alone venture, something I do not agree with. What about the school who is using excercise 3 to survive. Now a flipping operation can open up as a stand alone next to that school and evectively close the school. I think that the 96 should be an extention of a school operations to include flipping and in very rare cases (lets say people running a tourist operation on a game farm) should be allowed to operate as a standalone unit.

Thanks John. I think this can easily be managed by forcing the guy who wants to open a stand alone part 96(flipping operation) to get permission from operators in a certain area (almost like the guys doing a EIA does) or a farmer who wants to legally build a runway has to get permission from his neighbours etc. Note , I am not talking about guys wanting to do commercial work like crop spraying etc, I am only talking about operators who only want to do tourist flipping.

The flipping process is being handled in the "Project 24" campaign that is currently being managed by certain workgroups... as yet I don't have any further feedback!

Tribal the best solution not necessary the correct one would probably be to increase beverages prices so a soda before a flip will cost say for example R 250.00 if the patron tells you he/she will take 1/2 hour to drink it and buy another one for maybe R 500.00 or whatever if they feel like taking another 1/2 hour to finish the second one **

Sell your guests a pen or keyring for R300 and do the flip for free.
