Legal "Flipping"
Legal "Flipping"
What is the legal requirements, except a Commercial, or better licence, to be able to legally take passengers for a flip for renumeration in a ZU registered airplane? I have been informed that I will basically need a Charter Licence, which will cost in excess of R60,000.!!!
Thanking You,
Hansk

Why don`t you just phone RAASA and get the correct answer on this.I think instructor`s rating and a legal registered flight school is needed.

Re: Legal "Flipping"
Been a while since I read that part of the regs. If I recall correctly something along the lines of a VFR Com (PPL) as far as written subjects go, and clearly some flying proficiency comparable in hours to the full com licence. After that require a Part 96 authorisation.
Re: Legal "Flipping"
Thanks Slabfish.
I phoned RAASA. Part 96 is the authority for "non-certified" types. RAASA is now in the process to arrange a new procedure that will be much cheaper and easier to get than the present system, and should be in operation before the world-cup.

I'm sure it won't take them long for them to get out of this 'rock and hard place', should I charge for a 'flip' and be reported.Wargames wrote: caa is between a rock and a hard place here.

Re: Legal "Flipping"
Caa has no rock or hard place when comes to charging for a flip in a microlight. They will nail you and I, because as things stand you and I will be in the wrong when we do that.Grumpy wrote:I'm sure it won't take them long for them to get out of this 'rock and hard place', should I charge for a 'flip' and be reported.Wargames wrote: caa is between a rock and a hard place here.
