ZS-UDT TIPSY NIPPER
This is a Slingsy Type T66 RA45 Mk111 serial no. S107 Built circa 1970. It has been out of use for 10 years & has had an extensive and thorough rebuild/overhaul and is now ready for an ATF inspection. Unfortunately fate has intervened & due to loss of sight in one eye I cannot proceed and must offer it for sale. As I intended aerobating this my work has been careful & cautious.
AIRFRAME has about 250 hours with no accident history. Control systems all dismantled, pulleys freed ,cables cleaned checked for strand damage lanolined & replaced. One (rudder) cable renewed All reconnected ,set to specs.locked etc.Wing minor repair/recover (ceconite)following intruder damage ,ailerons recover & replace hinge pins. Fuselage covering good but opened to check for corrosion in lower stringers & replace wire torque bracing in one panel ,also to access to tail ballast, restore covering (ceconite) to all except tail ballast access. Rudder recovered & hinges line reamed & fitted o/s pins Tailplane/elevator recovered hinges examined, all refitted and angle of attack adjusted to spec.Undercarriage cleaned inspected refinished & refitted with new suspension rubbers to both main & nose. Brakes ,most parts were missing & original parts not obtainable so restored using hydraulic calipers & m/c master with new ss discs & alloy donut spacers.Cockpit seat renewed & improved.Wing root windows renewed ,canopy restored to good condition & closely fitted/sealed to airframe.
ENGINE now zero hours is original Rolason/Ardem VW 1600 type2 rebuilt with new pots/pistons /cam to increase capacity to 1835cc. Fitted with Dual electronic ignition (Leburg & Compufire) powered by 2 batteries & m/c alternator (similar Jabiru) enabling beacon, radio & electronic fuel pump. There is carb.hot air, a performance cam & a generous oil cooler to cope with FAWC conditions.
INSTRUMENTS Original ASI (mph) altimeter(feet) compass,digital tachometer,fuel gauge(orig float/rod) oil press,oil temp,batts.voltage.
RADIO Bendix/King KX125 with VOR & complete headset, 2antennas.
SUMMARY Aircraft is complete & running. All checked & reassembled using all new fasteners to spec. (BA & BSF) for airframe & metric for engine.Engine hand starts easily & Leburg system prevents kickback. Idles smooth at 800 and runs up static to 3000 with temps & pressure remaining in the green. Has been fast taxied to verify suspension/steering OK & lifts off & back to ground smoothly. New brakes operate well but must be used with care to avoid tyre creep.Weight & balance has been carried out & will accommodate a full tank & my weight (90 kg) My height is 1725 and with an (extra) plastic seat pan,+crash foam cushion I have 50mm clear under canopy. Pilots taller than 1780 may need an airframe mod. Aircraft is for sale due to my vision problems & is offered complete with manual, log, drawings,my extensive notes, various special tools, jigs, and extensive spares . It will be sold with a fresh MPI (major periodic inspection) It will be available for viewing at FAWC Worcester .I can be contacted by e-mail at strela1962@hotmail.com while 1n UK ,or by mob.081 856 8632 while in SA (jan feb mar ) I can arrange access for viewing at other times , meanwhile my UK phone is 02825 898085.
