Postby Jon Hewitt » Fri Jan 23, 2015 9:57 am

Hi all

i am looking at purcahsing a kitfox 2 with a tail wheel pritty much a done deal, i have a trike licence and bantam ,thunderbird ,will have to upgrade my licence to lsa for the kitfox .i am looking at converting back to a nose wheel , i have all the spares etc to do it .the question is where do you install the radiator .

does any one have a kitfox with a nose wheel who couDl possibly send me some photos ,even some advice would be much apreciated .

for those who whant to comment about me changing to a nose wheel ,the reason is i am not comfortable with tail draggers ,after speaking to many other pilots , one day maybe when i have more experiance i might try it .

Ag neeeeeeee SIES, you can NOT do that to the little Bird. Go for a few more hours training, they are fun little mechanics. Can almost guarantee with the nose weel on a Kitfox2 it will end up on its roof like ZU-PAT. They were not designed as a nose dragger

I have 1 or 2 hours on them and will NEVER go for the nose wheel

Do you know exactly what happened to zu-pat,I know it was involved in a ground loop accident,as was rebuilt by Jon Herbert from white river. I looked at the picture,,is it the nose down look ,what am I missing .

If I had to stay with tail dragger, how much extra instruction am I looking at .

Is there anyone in the lowveld area that could help with taildragger training, spoke to john Herbert he does not train anymore

The incedent I know of was at middelburg airfield, cant remember what happent but the pilot lost it on landing with that nose wheel and endet up on its roof. Went there to Quote to repair the bird but it went to Jon for repairs.

Talk to KFA on the microlighters he CAN help you master the tailwheel. Dont beleef every thing people tell you about tailwheels most of them have never flown one :!: :!:

I am the original builder of ZU-PAT . It was built as a taildragger, when I done the test flight at Swellendam it was with a crosswind.......no problem for the Foxie, or the pilot  Proper training is all you need. If you want more info on the aircraft from it`s early life , call me on 072 6716 240

Please refrain from using the Nosewheel word in the same sentence as Kitfox ## ## ## ##
