Microlight Market
Re: Microlight Market
Hi guys
I'm in the market for a trike under R25,000.Please get in touch with details.
Can someone give me their honest opinion on a Quicksilver MX2 vs a weightshift trike?
I'm used to flying fixed wing Piper Cherokees and have an expired PPL.
Thank you

Re: Microlight Market
Hi folk.
This topic has been hacked for 3 pages of "please add me's"
Suggest you guys start a new topic for "please Add me's".
I'd like to keep this topic relevant to the MICROLIGHT MARKET.
I find it interesting that 3 pages of folk have read this post and asked to be included in a whatsapp group. How many of you guys are actually flying your trikes, and not just "couch pilots"?
It's my humble opinion that if pilots actually got their asses back into the saddle, and brought their friends along, that the market would show a turnaround very quickly. Trike flying is, and always has been, an exhilarating experience (unless your first flight was with some chop in which case your first flight would be terrifying..but still exhilarating)
I know Nico is busy, and down here in Ballito the 2 schools are busy, BUT the owner pilots hardly fly? WHY??

Re: Microlight Market
Hi David - interesting argument - and totally agree.I wish that more people will take up or continue trike flying. But - for various reasons - it seems to be that less people enjoys this sport (or maybe we are wrong - will be interesting to know how many active WCM pilots there is). With regards to the whatsapp group - i initiated the group purely because of the fact that the whatsapp platform makes it easier and more effective to communicate.Hope there will be a turnaround point - that will depend on us that enjoys "trike flying"

Sorry to continue to hijack the thread but I don't see a separate WhatsApp group thread.
Could you please add me to the WhatsApp group. I want to start flying microlights.

Fully agree.
In my current hangar, I count 7 trikes, and whenever I fly, I have yet to see a fellow pilot join in the fun. I describe myself as active and fly regularly.
I miss the companionship I experienced up north, the scenery down south cape is breathtaking, but sadly, a lonesome endeavour.
Wont keep me off the bar though.... love my Aquilla to bits.

Re: Microlight Market
Note, I will be trailering up north for the Africa Cup, to taste some of the action.
Actually, I noticed that there are local trike pilots that are not aware of the event....Sad state of affairs.

Re: Microlight Market
Andries hello. Happily I am moving to Wilderness and Knysna. There the microlight pilots LOVE their trikes, and fly whenever they can.
If ever you come down to that area, be sure to bring your trike. We will make a plan to hangar your trike and have some great flights together.

Re: Microlight Market
..after many years of instruction, and flying trikes, I am convinced that the MAJOR cause of the decline in trike flying is the fear of turbulence, the inability to take off and land easily and successfully in up to 20 knots of gusty crosswind, and a growing distrust in trike structural reliability.
I want to help reverse these miconceptions.
The problem is, it costs money.
So, if a group of pilots is willing to club together, I will put advanced trike flying courses together and come show you how to love and trust your trike all over again. How to read the sky, to actually learn to know the difference between a thermal and an orographic induced turbulence. To actually learn to love a thermal and play with it and the birds of prey that use them.
To learn to trust your machine and your new skills..
Lets see where this goes..I'm hoping
