It was their first attempt without a cad drawing being prepared, but with a bit of time and fine tuning, panel # 2 came out exremely well.
The first panel was a little extravagant, in that we made it both too high and too low. The hight interefered with the windscreen and the low came a little close to the knees, workable, but I changed that as not all the space on the bottom lip is needed.

The seat and floor boards & pedals were in before the panel. The seat has 40mm sponge in and even with the new panel angled forward, I comfortably reach the Garmin 296 in its panel doc at the top.
We havent tried with seat belts yet as those supplied do not fit.
Same guys who cut the KR panel for me...

The first panel was 1.6 aircraft grade alli, but the second was 1.6 normal domestic.

RV 4ker, I am taking the plane to Peter in Edenval tomorrow and fetching the wings for painting.

The colour scheme reminds me of another Bushbaby I saw that is Peter's own personal plane I believe. I saw it at his workshop when I went to go fetch the kit

Hi Nico

I have not forgotten about your invite to come and check out this baby ( And your other one  ) life just seems to be getting in the way of the fun stuff at the moment :|

You can Conctact Mike Cathro at Panorama (?) (PM Me for number) He has a 912 Explorer which I tried on a while ago (**) (Dec'07), You will see that those of you who are short sh!ts must be really thankful - at least you can fit a thicker cusion under your butt and behind your back to help you reach the panel  . in my case ( 6'7", 250lbs) I remove the soft bits and hope to squeeze in...(hoping the Safari is better  )

PS I LOVE that SAAF scheme on the BB - really cool!! - Should be a Tailly though and needs a nice red spinner like the SAAF C185's and some of the Bosboks

Cheers

Hi Andy.

You are always welcome.

We bring the fuselage to the plot next week end for final assembly, inspections and first flight a week or two thereafter.

Know Mike well, and that yellow bushbaby. I can see Panarama from my hanger, and will be doing the first flight there.

The camo is nice. I have gone for a drab olive green with some matt black trim and a red spinner is on the cards and perhaps some red decals.

Chat soon.

Hi Tailspin.

Thanks for your kind words.

Had a major setback on Wednesday.
I finished the first tin of paint on the underside of the wings as per the photo, they came out nicely with a mid sheen

I turned the wing over and used the paint from can # 2 [ which was mixed at the same time ] and this came out a full gloss.
I also painted the tail feathers at the same time, also gloss.

I will have to have the paint rectified, sand all down and respray to match the fuselage.

Thanks Dusty - MAN I feel your pain :( .... and anger/frustration

My dad had a similar run in with a very well known varnish manufacturer's product whilst revamping his kitchen cupboard doors. It is not the cost of the product that matters - its the awful waste of time and effort caused by such a fault... :(

Good luck! - will be on contact - hopefully before your BBaby's first flight vhpy

Many thanks for the pics Tailspin.

The lights will be fitted from the inside of the cowl when the cut out's are complete, the oil cooler's sides are being rounded and extended to the cooler. I can imagine that there may be too much cooling there but there will be space between the oil rediator and cowl to perhaps fit an adjustable louvre, if necessary.
The bonnet arrangement works great, lots of access for preflight and servicing.
