Kitfox no:649 / ZU-IHM **SOLD**

Postby Jean Crous » Sun Jul 06, 2014 6:13 pm

I acquired this project from a deceased estate, the gent was an engineer as I understand from his son. For the past number of years there has not been any 'building" happening on this one. This is a Kitfox 2, but it has a few factory fitted goodies that are different to the ones I have seen here in SA.For instance an original Kitfox fuel header tank, a trim-tab in the elevator, chromolly doorframes that are "bulged ' outward for more shoulder room, glassfiber fuel tanks from Kitfox factory, and lastly a bigger rudder.
The controls had been installed, engine installed, wings constructed...........that is about where it stopped. I am going to "undo" everything and start from the ground up, not because of poor workmanship or quality, but things tend to gather a sticky sort of dust that needs to be cleaned off properly. I will be painting the frame white and all controls red. The engine , Rotax 618, has never run and will be sent to my friend Louis van Wyk at Aerosport Fisantekraal, to be stripped and checked. If anything needs replacing, mostly rubber parts, they will be replaced with new Rotax parts.
I will load some foties later on.
Jean

Mnr Goose, n maat van my het ook n Kitfox 2 , hy se die rudder is effens hoer as syne ,maar die enigste verskil wat ek duidelik kan sien is hierdie rudder het n groter cord as die gewone Kitfox 2. Ek sal hom meet wanneer my maat weer hier land met syne. :?
Groete

  I would prefer that ofcourse ($$) ($$) However there is an engine with it , the Rotax 618, to fit a Revmaster will take a whole lot of development work , a complete firewall forward = plenty of RRRRRRRR/ $$$$$$$$$ And I already have a Revmaster in my Bushbaby (^^) (-)

Goose,
Baie jammer, but Jean's deal was simply too good. Drop me your e-mail address & I'll send you some pic's of the Challenger. Jean reckons it do close to 105 MPH with the 618 I'm putting on. You should really see Jean's operation, it's the most professional I've seen in the Sport Aircraft building industry & he's a real perfectionist. This while at the same time being a true Gentleman with a great crew. Jean, vrijslike danke, aan jou en jy manne!!!
Cheers,
Vaughn

Howzit Jean,
Believe me there's no many real gentleman left in this world today & you richly deserve the accolade.
As for selling or not, I'm trying to avoid the decision by getting the Challie airborne first. I'm taking the motor to Flo Momberg tomorrow (He was recommended by Comet Aviation as the go to man for 618's), to strip down to see if anything has to be done. Then we'll take it further. Don't hassle about the prop, I've still got to get to Leeukop to pick up the gearbox & once Flo's removed the pulley I'll give you a shout before I send it down. I'll also do another check for the other parts. Gee my groete aan die ander manne.
Cheers,
Vaughn

A couple of pics as promised, this Kitfox 2 is certainly different to No: 647 that i built some years ago, and it is different to my Friend`s model 2 as well. I am still of two minds whether I want to keep this one or sell it once completed :? :? :?
