Ha Jean,

Done!

I guess it's still close to my original intent. And now I have dual ignition, a proper Ebox etc. I think what I have now is much more reliable. The KR2 was originally designed for 60hp, so it should fly just fine at the lighter empty weight here at the coast. Hopefully I can register her as a microlight as I need to get licensed to fly once again.

I am at peace. It is everything that I've wanted & she will end up exactly as I originally intended. I'll try my best to finish her quickly. I long to fly again.

All the best,

Henni

Hi everyone,

Sent the owner of the Rotax 582 powered KR2 at the beginning of this thread an email asking for any advice he might have for me. This is his reply:

"Now I will tell you that you have to choose very well your propeller

In fact, I have a 3 blade , 64 inches warp drive prop, that the very warp drive factory counsil me to have
The mater is tha it fly very good, on climbing and cruising, but in time to landing , is a very quick plane and the prop increases RPM as the plane go fast, and the plane goes 100 mph in landing whit no power in the prop. So, please be carefull choosing your prop and in the very begining have a a large landing lane .

Another thing is the two radiator that you have. In my plane I have also this and the temprature always rise. So I made only one radiator with the same size the original but twice times depth (and with the same amount of pipes of both originals)

If you see my photos you will note a kind of gap just down behaind the prop, and the radiator is near close behind the gap and all arround close with ruber in orther to not allow the air flow around, and I have no problems at all."

Keep well all,

Henni

Hi all,

At her new home - cleaning out seven years of Rhino Park dust. Eventually found a real jewel underneath all those dust.

After giving this some serious thought, apart from fitting the Rotax 582 in the place of a VW and adding a belly speed brake, I'm not going to change anything. I want to be in the air flying soonest. I can't wait to fly again!

We will be relocating to a house with a double garage soon - hard to work outside like this and in this August wind my two gazebos won't last so I won't even erect them.

Anyone has contact detail for an AP in the Durban area?

Cheers,

Henni

Hi Jean,

It will be either brilliant white or cream. I do not think anyone has more KR2 photos than me. I search for more on a daily basis. I am still looking at schemes. Will simply copy a good looking one. I really like the paint jobs on the newest Stings - maybe I'll go for something similar.

I am looking at all of these schemes. Notice what the interior will look like.

All the best,

Henni

Hi Hans,

Dit lyk geat! Baie mooi aerie, dis verseker!

Jy mag nou lag, maar ek oorweeg selfs iets soos hierdie. In elkgeval, het nog tyd om mooi daaroor te besin.

Groete,

Henni

From a KR2 newsletter:

"In an effort to improve interior living space, the aircraft uses a staggered seating arrangement. The stagger is accomplished by different back padding. One side uses little or no back padding . The two occupants do not sit shoulder to shoulder but are staggered by four to six inches. Much like having two reclining chairs side by side but at two different reclined angles."

I am going to build my seating like this to compensate for the lack of shoulder space. This saves me rebuilding the whole cockpit area as I did before.

Dankie Hans,

Hi all,

Many builders are now opting for lighter engines for the KR2. This builder opted for the BMW engine:
