Trevs Horizon

Postby Go Vert » Mon Feb 28, 2011 8:01 am

Well we made the 16hour trip to go and fetch the Horizon yesterday, was an absolute mission as after that tense Stormers game the adrenalin was pumping and I was not able to get to sleep a single min before we departed at 3am Sunday Morning so I was SUT.

Basicaly the airframe is completely built and very nicely built aswell, and after some pre covering finishing off the covering can begin. Ofcoarse the rudder, elevator and stab needs to be rebuilt as the builder deviated from the plans and made some huge changes on the tail. The controls are where I can do some work the gimbles are installed but thats it the rest I will have to do.

I did take alot of pics I just need to go through them and pic out the best ones

Thanks Gavin I am very happy with this one, it will be my fun airie and we are already having fun with it. I agree it will be a stunning looking plane when done. Work starts Saterday and I recon we should be able to work on it 5 days in a week with a total of +- 20 hrs per week. Many of my flying budies at Morningstar are also keen to give a hand just to keep themselfs bussy and have an exuse to be at the airfield so things should move along at a steady pace.

Yes I will post plenty of pics when we get to start building, I recon the whole weekend will be spent cleaning all the dust out from the nooks and cranies. But as soon as real work starts I will post pics of the progress

Thanks Caneco

Well Sunday is done and all the little sections which happend to break or pop loose while we travelled back to CT are now all fixed up, found a issue with the one wheels brakes so got that sorted. We then also fitted the wings to the fuz. Next I need to arrange for a AP to come and inspect and then if there are some mods or suggestions he advises get them done and then beging prep for covering.

Well Saterday the AP came around and advised a few areas which needed some attension first was a total airframe sand down and re- varnish. skip to Sunday. This morning we got motivated and sanded down the entire airframe then got 98% complete with varnishing the Fuz before I ran out of varnish. Might get down to the airfeild tomorrow and finish the wings.

Sorry no pics ( we were very busy )
