Trev, what foam are you using for the plug? Is it easy to carve? I'm nearing that stage soon on my CH701
Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two

Hallo oom Gerrie.

I made a wooden former of the fire wall side then one of the spinner side then I simply glued as bigger pieces of foam I could fit inbetween the formers so its a hollow polystyrene foam plug, no sence in paying extra for the foam on the inside whicg you dont need. Here and there I have to sand down between 10 - 20 mm until I get to the wood then I am done. The only thing with this methode is that I will have to give a 1st layer of Epox and glass before going to any polyester but I had the epoxy already and the polyurothane foam is pritty expensive aswell and shit to work with WRT health issues. I hope to have my cowl product complete by the end of next week.

Wow that was awsome got some decent time in and some work done, felt good. I sanded or shaped the cowling plug and then glassed it with epoxy resin and 8oz cloth. You know you have done alot of sanding when the 80grit sandpaper is worn down from sanding polystyrene

Next I will coat the plug in a layer of polyester which will alow the body filler and other polyester products I will be using to bond well enough to the plug.
