Ok, I want to buy an aircraft and register it on my name...this is what I have so far (please fill in if I missed something):
1. Me and owner fill in CAR 47A form
2. Register with Aeroclub and Misasa
3. Get ATF done by approved person
4. Hand in forms at RAASA or CAA?
5. Radio license? (Do I renew it each year?)
....am I done now?

Re: Registration of new (for me) aircraft
Hi Topflight, Im going through the same paperwork pain right now. My guestimates:topflight wrote:Ok, I want to buy an aircraft and register it on my name...
AeCSA/MISASA R630
ATF inspection & docs +/- R900
Change of Ownership RAASA +/- R650
Radio license ICASA - not sure on cost
Im sure there are guys who can do the ATF cheaper, but it gives you a ballpark indication.
Re: Registration of new (for me) aircraft
Thank you BC, there seems to be a lot of stuff that needs to be done and I cannot find a document explaining what needs to be done...all info found from searching on the forums. Do you have the steps for registration more or less the same as I described it?

Same for me, trawling the forums and asking the guys at Microland.
As far as I understand it to get the plane legal requires ATF done by AP and filed at RAASA. Behind the ATF sits a bunch of paperwork, the valid ICASA radio license being only one doc, check that you have all the rest available too (cert of reg, last ATF, M & B, logbooks etc). Same for COO from the seller also filed at RAASA. To get yourself legal is AeCSA/MISASA membership, medical and NPL.
After that it's the annual inspection/-renewals of all of the above. A lot of time on the ground for a little bit of time in the air...but it's still worth it!

Thank you for all the info.

Hi BeanCounter (and others),
Ref your response to Topflight regarding fees. The ICASA radio licence fee is R600.00 for the first year, i.e. the total of R480.00 one-time application fee plus R120.00 annual licence fee.
