Gyros over the tip of Africa

Postby Learjet » Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:35 pm

Paul, Jonathan and I decided to get together for some flying whilst holidaying with our families along the Southern Cape coast. One of our trips included a stunning coastal flight from Pearly Beach to Stillbaai, a very scenic route which took us around Cape Agulhas - the southernmost tip of the African continent, where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet.

Stonewall fish traps - some dating back thousands of years, were built by early inhabitants of the Cape. known as "Strandlopers" to catch fish on the outgoing tides. Some are still in use today.

Hi everyone,

I might be only one of few who experiences this, but just to let you know:

When posting pics that are hosted somewhere else (not included in your original post), I cannot view them at all. It took me a long time to discover why I could not see these.

If it's just me, don't bother. There's just a chance that quite a few experience the same problem and hence this reply.

Keep well,
Henni

I really enjoyed the flight despite the 40 Mph wind that we had the whole way. The angle of my rotor in the picture of me landing is indicative of the crosswind at Stillbaai.

Before I am very older, I am going to fly in that paradise of yours. The pics make for very jealous reading. 8) Incredibly nice.

Just need some more crosswind practice.
