Changing Rotax 914 to Electronic Fuel Injection

Postby Big Man » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:17 pm

I need some answers/advice please:

Has it been done?
Is it worth it? ( performance; fuel saving; etc. )
Who do I ask to do it?
What does it cost?
?
?
I refuse to grow up.

Hello Julius,

I am also curios and have done some limited research. From the Rotax Factory site we know they went fuel injection on the 912 and I followed a link from their site to a little snippet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... grP4JkSUsI

I am yet to find any mentioning of going there with the 914’s and if they do would there ever be a conversion kit option?

I am sure we all desire first and mostly the fuel economy possibilities and the benefits quoted from the Rotax media release:
“While this is one of the Rotax 912 iS engine's key benefits, there are others to consider.
- Safety: no carburetor icing, the engine can self-diagnose and log data.
- Simplicity: no choke is needed for starting, no carburetor synchronization required until
200 hours.
- State-of-the-art technology: CANaero bus interface provides all engine data digitally to
glass cockpits”

Using the google there are conversions out there but it would be enlightening to find a converted or one on the way in our own ZA passing all regulatory requirments and Aircraft manufacturer guarantee's. I strongly believe there is a Market

Greetings Bigman.

Or maybe this one.

The conversion cost is an additional Euro30,000 plus the cost of an engine.
