During our recent Kalahari trip we had the opportunity to stop over at Douglas airfield and visit and inspect the facilities and accommodation for the North / South event.

Hi Mak, lyk baie nice (^^)
Good instructors always speak well about all flying machines.
Bad instructors speak badly about machines they cannot fly.

Herewith just a reminder of the North / South gathering in Douglas (Backhouse Airfield) from 20 to 23 September 2013.

There are a variety of accommodation available at Broadwater estate (from camping to four star units) where the AGM and Dinner will be held on the Saturday afternoon and evening, but it is quickly filling up, so hurry to avoid disappointment. There are however other guesthouses in town, see the list below.

Please mail info@sagpa.co.za if you plan to attend this event, but must still book accommodation, to enable us to plan the necessary transport to and from the airfield.

Please also give us an indication of the fuel quantity that you will require, taking into account any scenic flights that you might undertake on the Saturday and Sunday. There are some scenic flights along the Orange river to Prieska or down to the Van der Kloof dam or to and over the Witsand Nature Reserve.

We are also planning transport from the Gauteng area to Douglas, so if any of you are interested in sending luggage or wives or husbands by road, please inform us. We might do the same from Cape Town, but will inform you once this is arranged.

Lunch and drinks will be served at the airfield on the Friday from 12h00 to 16h00 and on the Saturday from 10h00 to 14h00.

Below is a list of a few guest houses in Douglas. Everyone is responsible for booking their own accommodation.

    Cummings Guest House 082 780 3611
    Rene's Guest House 082 266 9038 or (053 298 1824)
    Kom Tuis Guest House 074 314 4531 or (084 810 1348)
    Villa De Ghaap 083 406 0902 or (053 298 4314)
    Sunset View 082 376 9771
    Villiera Guest House 082 454 2263 or (053 298 1453)
    Broadwater river resort 082 332 2266 or www.broadwater.co.za
