Good Day Uncle Peter.

I think this is a stunning idea. There has been some members to Friedrichshaven last year. I think it would be good if they can share their experiences. This will help with the planning. I know that you can book accomodation and entry through the web page. (See http://www.aero-expo.com and also http://www.messe-friedrichshafen.de/aer ... s/news.php) I have also looked at flight cost and the basics is approx R7000-00 for a return flight. This is to Munich, you can then take the train to Friedrichshafen. I paid approx R400-00 per night for bed and breakfast during a mountain bike show. I have also made use of the bus transport in town during a "messe" (show) and it works like a charm. There is camping accommodation available on site, i am just not sure of the weather at the time?

Visiting in a group is very enjoyable, the experiences and knowledge can be shared. I know the Neil Bowden tour to Oshkosh each year is a winner.

Greetings

I was there this year and it was great. I have some contacts in Germany and the Netherlands. This year was just an expo but every second year it is an expo and airshow so I think it will be excellent next year. i am definitely going next year, the is a small chance that I will be flying with a Safari up to the show. Keep us posted

It happens to be powered by a Rotax but I will feel just as safe behind a Jabi, have done 900 hrs now behind a 4 and 6 without hassel.

Beeing a German resident, I am going there every year. Access is free to EAA members. Met my SA friends (Komatipoort) there last time.
Even weather was execellent in 2011, april can be very cold and wet, therefore camping is not recommended for SA softies
There are a lot of cheaper accommodations than the ones recommended by the fair availaible around the town.
But you have to book in advance and get a ride.Getting a rental is recommended anyway. There are fantastic sightseeing locations (Lake Constanz, the Alps etc.) around the place.
I might go there by plane and hopefully see a KFA Safarie cruising above the lake. (-)

I dont like to rush things but can we maybe put our names down. This could be advantageous for a croud booking on the same flight. I believe Etihad Airlines are the most economical at around R6500 return to Zurich.
Response please

I am in. If I do not use the ticket myself I will give it to someone else here at the factory.

I am definately going again. Not sure if I will stick to the dates set here. I will be going to Brussels, Amsterdam and Frankfurt (Oliver, I hope you have beer and a bed for me (^^) )

I will probably fly to Brussels on the 10th or 11th and come back with the group on the 30th.
