I once tried fitting a stab myself, but wasn't happy with the results - see pic below. I was also lucky to hit 75mph in the cruise. It was subsequently unceremoniously removed, and I therefore speak with the utmost authority when I say that mixing a HS + RAF = mixing oil + H2O. It just doesn't go chaps! Even though we know we fly an aircraft that looks like a heavily pregnant mosquito , we do not believe that aesthetics is a necessary aeronautical feature.
