Based in the thread about me flying to work at FACT, here's my proposal:
I'm off next Saturday 28th Jan if anyone would like to fly into Cape Town International in their gyro. If that date doesn't work for the majority, then we can try another Saturday or Sunday. (Other dates when I'm off are Sun 5th Feb, Sat 11th Feb, Sun 12th Feb)
Today I spend some time after a flight, and did some visiting to see how we are going to get around after landing and visited to Tower to plan our arrival there.
I suggest everyone flies into Stellenbosch Airfield, and then I can give a brief on what to expect for our arrival. I suggest we leave Stellenbosch in a loose formation. After landing, we can park at the CPT Flying Club. They can do Tea/Coffee and muffins, or a full breakfast if we want. The other option is to part in the SAA Hangar, and we can walk across to the terminal building for a breakfast there if everyone prefers that. After that, Signature Aviation offer a ground transfer service whereby they can drive us to the Tower for a visit of Air Traffic Control (for a fee R185 one way for the ride!). Their crew transport bus takes 7, so the more gyronauts we get, the cheaper it is.
After the Tower visit, we can then depart initially as a loose formation, and then set heading for your respective airfields.
So there you have it, if you would like to do this, let me know asap, so I can get it organized.
Kind regards, Glenn

Re: Gyro Fly-in to Cape Town International
Guys thanks for a fab day we had 10 gyro copters that took up the kind offer of Glenn to visit FACT, we were treated to a great breakfast, and most friendly ATC who had to keep a mango heavy back for a few moments as we cleared.
First to arrive this morning at FASH was Ian and then myself followed shortly by the gang.
Jean was there so Im sure we will soon find some great pics of the CT meeting on the forums in the mean time here is the line up as seen from my cell phone camera.
Special thanks to Glenn for all his efforts and Im certain we all learned a thing or two thanks to all the guys who made the effort, and for Mark B who as always brings the humor
Seems the Gyro guys in JHb will need to do something now to improve on this

Re: Gyro Fly-in to Cape Town International
well done guys - sadly I missed this great flying day - will catch the next one
seen the photo of mango waiting for the gyro to land reminded me of a similar incident that happened to me back in 1997. I was on my way to JHB and my flight was delayed - the captain said he is waiting for some "small aircraft" to land. +- 10/15min later, I could just see some gyro's taxing down 19. little did I know that I would be flying a gyro myself one day.
