"Free" AP course - Mike Spence - EAA 973 (Krugersdorp)

Postby Loco » Tue Jul 15, 2014 12:06 pm

Hi guys

An amazing opportunity has presented itself!

As a way of "giving back to aviation" and to hopefully get more people part of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) community
uncle Mike Spence of Ultimate Aircraft Services in Krugersdorp
has kindly offered he's time and facilities for us to conduct an AP course

Course details:
- Based on the AC 43 manual (e.g. http://www.actechbooks.com/products/act008)
- Duration 1 year
- Start early next year and will be held 2 hours each Saturday afternoon (late afternoon so people can still conduct their business and fly early)

Some prerequisites:
- EAA membership (preferably EAA 973 but any will do, chapter membership is only R200/year, 1 meeting per month where people discuss just about anything aviation related and help each other with their builds - building an aircraft is not a prerequisite)
- Small nominal fee to cover snacks/drinks/materials used
- It would be great if all delegates at least attempted to write the exams (on a personal note uncle Mike held a similar course in the past and he was very disheartened at the lack of people attempting to write the exams, he puts a lot of himself into this course and it would be great for him if some people passed the exams)

This is a great opportunity to learn from a legend of aircraft building and get hands-on experience

If you are interested please post your name here so we can get an idea of numbers

Regards
EAA 973 (FAKR)

EDIT:
I'll keep this list up to date with the names of those that are interested

Great stuff glad to see we have a good show of interest so far :)

Uncle Mike mentioned that if the interest is there he can extend the course to include trikes as well

And regarding the 2 hours each Saturday, when we get closer to the time we'll discuss what will suit the majority best e.g. we could change it to 3 hours each second Saturday
