Alpha Comms by Air Magic
What is Alpha Comms ? We have launched a new brand aimed specifically at the entry level market. Over the past few months we have seen a growing number of recently qualified students that have bought time tested Windlasses, Raptors, Aquillas and other older generation aircraft. Each motor has to be rebuilt, wings, carts and other mechanical items have to be replaced. In each case we see that they "go over budget". Then when ready to fly we get and see requests for "used headsets" and so on obviously to save money from the Ministry of Home affairs. Then almost invariably they have a mate/brother/neighbour/cousin that has an electronics background and they build up a home brew system (normally using a LM386 !!) which is now old in the tooth. Or of course repair some old set they have found !! Some work, some don't but the biggest problem they have is the availability and compatibility of microphones, plugs and other devices. All air time wasted and of course the safety risks as well.
OK, so what we are now offering is quite simple:
Trade in your old Green Peltor derived headsets (pair) and intercom, we then trash the intercom box, and use only the raw plastic green Peltor headcups, we re-polish them and attach new seals, electronics, chatterbox, mic boom, microphone, mic foams, PTT to our latest chatterbox "Classic" specification. They look as new and obviously work as new. Hassle free with a 1 year warranty.
Price ex works R2,750.00
This has got to be the deal of the century, and save the pain of repairs !! They are branded Alpha Comms as some parts are not actually new.
(Offer applies to the green Peltor cups only)
We also have replacement visors and bibs for the older style helmets which are almost invariably scratched !! And currently tooling a Classic helmet for this market.
We are interested in buying your old Icom ICA3e or ICA 22e as a part exchange with this offer. Then buy a new VXA220 from Solo (on this forum) in the cape !!

Re: Alpha Comms by Air Magic
Is that price for whle system - 2 headsets plus box and power supply and connecters?
Have 1x green Busscom and 1x green Speakeasy headset (green cups) - only one works on my busscom system.
Would this work?

Re: Alpha Comms by Air Magic
Playboy, yes no problem but they are old radios and in most cases the caps are now kaputt and this causes other problems. But the answer is yes we would make a special just for your radio and when you decide to upgrade it send it back and we will reverse the mods for you. Its just a link removed inside.

Before I spend R3000-00 + on your Alpha Comms, I need to be sure that my intercom, headsets and radio are U/S. On the ground I recieve 5/5 and transmit 5/5 with engine running........ once airborne I recieve 5/5 but transmit 1/5 - 2/5
Took the whole lot to Buzzcom and they tested it in their workshop..... working fine they said Is there something I can put in-line to increase the TX??
I am using the first Buzzcom( White) intercom, Buzzcom headsets and a Icom IC-A20 Radio.
Any suggestions please guys.
