Whats with airport names? FABP SWAB etc.

Technical questions, advice, sharing information etc (aircraft, engines, instruments, weather and such)

Whats with airport names? FABP SWAB etc.

Whats the convention used when giving airports their names? :shock: And how do other pilots even know what you're talking about? Or do they always say the english name and in brackets put some weird abbreviation :?

Each airport gets a 2 letter code, (Virginia = VG), then, the F means Africa, and the A means South Africa, so FAVG, is Africa, South Africa, Virginia.
