Cubby Owners

Postby clive layland » Sat May 10, 2008 8:42 am

I bought the cubby ZU-DJZ advertised on Avcom back in February.

Firstly due to weather and then being out the country, was unable to collect until last saturday.
She Flies very well and am really impressed, albeit not the most comfortable aircraft that I have flown in.

Have there been any Cubby get-together's?
Would appreciatte if any Cubby Owners have any tech tips, AD's SB's they wish to share!

Was a cubby fly in at mossel bay last year. Could not make it, but said it was fun. The business is now based at Potch. Mine based at FABB, but will be sale soon. (Just don't get time to fly it). Club at Parys has 1. There is 1 at Secunda and I think there are a couple in the stick in and around Jhb. (Heidelburg maybe also has a couple?)

I agree 100% HUGELY under rated aerie. Enjoy it...

Fantastic aircraft. 3 near cape town - mine, DVR at stellenbosch, 2 in Mossel bay, one at Margate and the rest in gauteng area. PM'd you about latest bulletins. Fly from rear seat only when solo. 3 point landings only. Everybody told me the wheeler landing not possable and of course I had to try but with little success. Curious to know if anybody else has had good wheeler landing.

Congratulations on your new Cubby !

I have always liked the Cubby, I think they are great planes and excellent value for money.

Saw this one at Rustenburg Yesterday.

Just as a matter of interest: Cubby owners with VW engines:

*Do you fly with unleaded or Avgas?

* You opinion on the VW engine with reduction drive: Is the VW engine up to such high revs?

Will appreciate any comments.

We use 95 octane unleaded with Castrol multi grade. Standing on almost 1000 hours with
no problems yet. Cruise at 2800 - 3000 rpm. ( 2 blade carbon fibre prop)
Take off at 70 , cruise at 70 and land at 70 miles per hour
